K G Ravindran, age 72, a beloved father, husband, brother, friend and world citizen, sadly left our world on 18 November 2023, after a life richly lived in service and kindness.

We take this chance to pay homage to this beloved human whose loss can never be made up! Ravi or K.G as known to his beloved friends, was a beacon of light and hope in our community, touching lives through his beautiful nature, regal behaviour, honesty, work and kindness.

Born in Calicut in 1950, he spent most of his school life in Delhi. He was an ardent cricketer and a very good student who tried to balance all his aspects of his school life in the best way. In 1967, life brought him to Kerala on a fortuitous summer, where his maternal grandmother asked him to join REC-Calicut as he had a keen interest in machines and engineering in general. That one decision would completely change his life!!! He secured himself a merit seat at the ever-prestigious Regional Engineering college of Calicut (Now NIT) and thus began his foray in engineering and passed out in 1972 with distinction.

Post his bachelor’s degree, he decided to pursue Aeronautical engineering in his Masters and his hard work and dedication earned him a seat at IIT-Chennai. After his Masters, he chose to start his illustrious career in HAL after clearing the PSC examination.

This was the start of a lifelong career in Aeronautics. He has worked with many international airlines over the course of career, such as Gulf Air, Etihad, Emirates, etc. His work took him to many parts of the world where he was able to shine his beacon of knowledge, discipline, humour, adventure and love to all whose lives he touched.

Throughout his life, KG was an ardent sportsperson. He excelled in cricket in his younger days and was in the College Cricket team while in REC, but he also had an immense passion to play sports such as tennis and badminton.

To all those who know him well or had the opportunity to be a part of his inner circle, know that his hard-exterior shell was only a façade but actually masked a soul filled with love and compassion. His loyalty to his friends and alma mater were commendable. He tried to help all those in need around him and expected nothing or very little in return!! He always contributed to the RECCA Charitable Society whenever requests were received.

He is survived by his loving wife, daughter and two sons. His absence is dearly felt by all who had the chance to know him, especially his REC 72 batch mates, and is forever loved in all our hearts.
