
Prof. P. M. Jussay is the father figure of NITCAA Cochin chapter. He was the professor of English department at NITC between 198—–. He founded the chapter with innovative ideas like housing enclave. So its only fitting that NITCAA instituted an award for best outgoing student at National Institute Of Technology (NITC). Award will have Gold medal in honor of Prof Jussay and a citation.
Selection Criteria:
Final year B Tech students are only eligible for this award. Top 10% from each branch with minimum 85% attendance in previous academic year are only considered. Selection is based on different parameters as described below. 10 students are shortlisted for personal interview.
- Academic Excellence (Semester 1-7 ; 10 mark each): 70 Marks
- Co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities:
- a. Organizing and participating in seminars Conferences at Zonal, National or International level, Paper presentations, Prizes in co-curricular conducted by other colleges’, university or national level. Involvement in Department magazines or functions: 50 Marks
- b. Representing college in various fora, cultural competition etc. Participating in various literary, fine arts and performing arts at college level. Organizing college annual day, cultural forum etc.: 50 Marks
- c. Active participation in sports (intra and Inter-collegiate): 50 Points
- d. Participation in NSS/NCC/Additional Credit Program: 30 Points
- Personal Interview: 50 Points.
Application is normally invited on the month of October and award presented in Jan.
This award is one of the ways NITCAA rewards holistic development of new engineers studying at our alma mater, National Institute of Technology, Calicut.
This award is funded by generous contribution of NITC alumni members. Also, joint sponsorship (batch wise or location wise) is also possible.
